Online Archive of California (OAC)

Guides to the Local History Center's archival collections are available on the OAC.  While some of the contents are available on the Palos Verdes Community Archives most of the collections have not been digitized.  Use the collection guides to learn more about the Local History Center's archival collections.  

 

California Digital Newspaper Collection

Thanks to a generous donation, the Local History Center has digitized the first 43 years of the Palos Verdes Peninsula News.  The Palos Verdes Peninsula News and sister titles, Hollywood Riviera Tribune and Rolling Hills Herald are freely available through our partners, the Center for Bibliographic Research and Studies and U.C. Riverside.  

 

Aerial Photographs at UC Santa Barbara

The aerial photography collection at UC Santa Barbara includes many publicly available aerial photographs of the Peninsula (and California).  

 

Olmsted Online

The Palos Verdes Peninsula was original laid out by famed landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted, Jr.  The Olmsted Firm is responsible for over 6,000 landscapes across the United States.  The work done on Palos Verdes Estates is one of the premiere projects of the firm.  Olmsted Online has links to photos, plans and documents on Olmsted projects.
